Popular Jr. Middleweight contender Jimmy Lange (30-3-2, 21 KOs), who captured the World Boxing Council’s 154-pound U.S. National Boxing Championship last month, will return to action on Saturday, July 25, 2009, headlining a fight card at the Greensboro (NC) Coliseum Special Event Center.
The Great Falls, VA fighter and season one participant on The Contender boxing show will face Jimmy LeBlanc (12-16-4, 4 KOs) of Weymouth, MA in an eight-round non-title bout as part of the Double Impact event presented by Walter Johnson Promotions in association with WorldBoxe.
The fight marks Lange’s first in the Tar Heel state and first outside the Patriot Center in more than four years (and seven bouts) since beating Tarick Salmaci in a Contender Fan Favorite contest held May 24, 2005 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas , NV .
Lange’s training camp with top veteran trainer Don Turner is based in Arapahoe, NC, located about 200 miles from Greensboro.
The Greensboro Coliseum Special Event Center is approximately a five-hour drive from the Northern Virginia / Washington , DC area.
Lange fans will remember the tough Boston-based LeBlanc for his November 1, 2008 appearance at the Patriot Center where he scored a devastating first-round knock out of former Alexandria , VA contender Luther Smith.
In addition to Lange, promoters are looking to add a second boxer from The Contender series to the card.
Tickets will be on sale at www.ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000 and at the Greensboro Coliseum Box Office. VIP tickets may be purchased by calling 336-254-4700.
