Risum Boxing: Danish Golden Boy Poulsen Wins In Horsens

By Boxing Press June 25th, 2009 All Boxing Results

22-year-old Danish lightweight prospect Kim Poulsen improved his record to 12-1 (3) on Friday night in Horsens, Denmark when he annihilated experienced Tanzanian puncher Obote ”The Thunder” Ameme (36-18-2, 29 KOs) in two rounds.

Poulsen took charge from the start, controlled the action with his left jab and fired off impressive combinations to body and head of Ameme.

After a one-sided first round, Poulsen staggered the African in round two and send him down twice before referee Frank Michel Mass waved the fight off.

The bout was scheduled for ten rounds, and the vacant UBO Intercontinental title was on the line. TV2 Sport broadcasted the fight live throughout Denmark.

“I didn’t expect the fight to be over so quickly, but I felt very, very sharp tonight, and it’s always a pleasant surprise when things work out so well. I had excellent support here in Horsens, and my focus was 100 percent on delivering a good performance for me, my team and the spectators. Now I need a nice break, and then we will see what the future brings”, said an elated Poulsen.

Also on the show, Danish super middleweight Fawaz Nasir dominated Latvian Ruslans Pojonisevs, knocking him down twice with body-shots on the way to a lopsided decision victory. Nasir is now 14-3 (8), Pojonisevs 5-4-1 (4).

African lightweight champion Sam “Rocky” Rukundo was far from his best, but won a clear unanimous decision over another Latvian, Sergejs Savrinovics (now 6-14-1, 3 KOs), and stayed undefeated at 14-0-1 (6) after a sluggish performance.

Risum Boxing, in cooperation with Brian Mathiasen Boxing, promoted the show, which also contained four well-matched amateur fights.
