Undefeated lightweight Gabor Veto (7-0, 6 KOs) scored a brilliant first round TKO over hometown journeyman Anton Glofak (2-79-8) on Saturday night at the City Hall in Komarno, Slovakia.
The 20-year-old Veto, a former member of Hungarian amateur national team, had to show his excellent skills against the experienced journeyman Glofak.
The 38-year-old Slovakian has had 90 fights and he’s fought world class fighters such as the former IBF Title Challenger Cyrill Thomas, who he went the distance against, and WBO Title Challenger Zoltan Kalocsai.
Veto, of Varpalota, showed his superiority and potential over an outclassed Glofak already in the opening round.
Veto dropped Glofak with a left hook to the head at the beginning of round one. Glofak stood up on shaky legs and the Optimum Sports Agency’s Hungarian prospect immediately went on the attack, flooring Glofak again and the bout was stopped by referee Jan Sedlak. Time was 1:23.
“I think tune-up fights against such an experienced journeymen as Anton Glofak are important to build up a career and to gain more ring-experience“, said Veto.
With the victory Veto now looks towards a match with Mohesen Moradian (2-1) for the WBC Youth Lightweight Title Eliminator at the Castle of Varpalota in Hungary on July 25th, 2009.
