TKO Boxing Packs The Undercard Tonight At York’s Sovereign Bank Stadium

By Boxing Press August 1st, 2009 All Press Releases

TKO Boxing Promotions has announced details of an outstanding undercard set for tonight, August 1st at the Sovereign Bank Baseball Stadium, home of the York Revolution.

Headlined by a terrific eight round featherweight matchup between York’s favorite son, Carney Bowman and hard hitting Dominican Delvin Placencia, undercard features seven action packed bouts featuring some of the finest young prospects in professional boxing.

Making his return to the squared circle in his hometown of York, PA, featherweight Eric Nemo will square off against Denver’s Jairo Delgado in a six round featherweight bout.

The 25 year old Nemo, 7-1-1 (3KO’s), returned from an almost two year layoff to brutally stop Ricky Alexander at the Valencia Ballroom on March 7th.

Denver native Jairo Delgado, 3-2-0 (3KO’s), will leave the Mile High City for the first time to face Nemo. He is coming off a third round stoppage of Eric Bradford on December 19, 2008 in his hometown.

Fellow York fan favorite Stevie Weimer will battle newcomer Melcor Guillen Jr. in a four round welterweight bout.

In his last outing, the 19 year old Weimer, 3-0-0 (2KO’s), won a four round unanimous decision over Trenton Titsworth on November 8, 2008 at the Valencia Ballroom..

Guillen Jr., 1-1-0, is coming off a close, hard fought decision loss to Diego Pereira on May 22nd in Lincoln , Rhode Island .

Cruiserweight fan favorite Andres Taylor returns to action in a six round cruiserweight bout against Lake Charles, Louisiana’s Roy Ashworth.

Taylor , 8-1-1 (4KO’s), will look to get back in the win column following his first loss, a six round war against Leo Bercier on June 27th that had the huge crowd in Youngstown, OH on their feet from start to finish cheering on the excellent two way battle. This will be Taylor ’s third bout in York, winning both of his previous bouts.

Ashworth, 5-4-0 (1KO), last fought on June 28, 2008, stopping Terry Broughton in the second round in Waveland, MS.

Fighting out of Lancaster, P , five time Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Champion Naziyr Bell will make his professional debut in a four round light heavyweight bout.

Dominican native Rafael Lora will face Puerto Rico’s Carlos Diaz in a six round featherweight bout.

Lora, 10-0-0 (5KO’s), will be making his debut in the United States, his last bout coming on March 21st, a first round knockout of Francisco Melendez.

Diaz, 10-19-4 (7KO’s), has been involved in distance battles with highly regarded prospects Gary Stark Jr., Vicente Esocbedo, Antonio Davis, Dat Nguyen and Hylon Williams Jr.

Opening the evening, Lancaster’s Johnny DeJesus, 1-0-0 (1KO), squares off against Columbus, OH native Troy Nelson, 0-4-0, in a four round junior middleweight bout.

Tickets, starting at $20 for general admission in the grandstand of the stadium, can be purchased in advance through the York Revolution Box Office (717-801-HITS, www.yorkrevolution.com). Ringside table seating is also available through the box office.
