Worcestershire boxer Alex Strutt is looking forward to September 18 when he returns to the ring after a ten month break. Strutt - aka ‘The Sledgehammer’ - will fight at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in Wolverhampton, England on a bill presented by First Team Promotions.
Last time out, the 27 year old middleweight drew against Pawel Trebinski, seeing his professional record to 2 wins (1 by KO), no losses and 1 draw. In recent months, Strutt has switched camps from Richie Woodall to Paul Webb's gym at Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham.
SaddoBoxing caught up with Webb this week and the trainer gave this overview of his new charge.
“Since Alex came to us at Chelmsley Wood a few months ago, I've been impressed with his dedication, eagerness to learn and the way he has become part of the team," said Paul.
"He has been sparring with the likes of Anthony Small since day one and has more than held his own. By September 18, he will be in the best shape of his career and, together with the techniques John Costello has been working on with him, he will be a ‘wrecking machine‘.
"Thanks to Kerry Kayes, Alex is walking around close to fight weight already. He is a great kid and I can see why he is so well supported.
"But don't be fooled by how polite and genuine he is outside the ring. Once that bell sounds, he will be out to destroy whoever stands between him and his goals.”
Strutt, sponsored by Albright Lettings of Yardley, turned pro in September, 2007 with a second round stoppage of Lance Verallo.
