The question of just who is the best light heavyweight in Florida was answered last night at the Gulf Coast Arena in Biloxi, MS as Roy Jones Jr and Jeff Lacy headlined the heavily-hyped "Hook City" fight card.
In a sharp display of one-way traffic, Jones controlled the pace of the bout the entire duration, beating ex-IBF super middle titlist Jeff Lacy to the punch time after time.
Despite turning 40 in January, Jones had little difficulty with his 32 year old adversary, convincing Lacy's corner to pull their man out before the advent of the 11th round.
Former multi-weight world champion Jones improves to 54-5 (40), while Lacy falls to 27-3 (17), after losing twice over his last three appearances.
Jones' next opponent could be Australia's popular ex-WBA light heavyweight champ Danny Green, 27-3 (24), who proved to have too much power for Julio Cesar Dominiquez, 20-5-1 (14), knocking out the Argentine visitor in five to cage the IBO cruiserweight title.
Jason Litzau, 25-2 (21), belted out Verquan Kimbrough, 21-2-2 (7), in the third to win the vacant NABF lightweight strap and cruiserweight BJ Flores, 24-1 (15), stayed on track for a title fight by defeating Epifiano Mendoza, 29-8-1 (25), when Mendoza couldn't continue in the fourth due to an arm injury.
Light welter Ray Nahr went to 23-1 (20), after knocking out Marteze Logan, 26-38-2 (6), in the fifth.
