Prize Fight Boxing: Fernando Guerrero Headlines August 29 PPV

Undefeated prospect Fernando Guerrero (14-0, 12 KOs) is a rising star in the middleweight division, as well as the August 29th headliner on the “Boxing’s Future Champions II” pay-per-view pro card, shown live on streaming video from Fitzgerald’s Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi.

Dominican Republic-born Guerrero (14-0, 12 KOs), now fighting out of Salisbury, Maryland, has already fought twice on ESPN and once on Showtime.

The talented southpaw headlined the inaugural “Boxing’s Future Champions” show this past June in Salisbury, Maryland, stopping Brian “The Assassin” Norman in the second round.

The 22-year-old Guerrero, who captured a gold medal at the World Cadet Junior Olympics and 2007 USA National Championships, takes on Chris “On Target” Archer (11-7, 7 KOs), in the 8-round main event on Aug. 29.

“It feels great to start something new like this,” the No. 10 NABF and No. 14 NABO rated middleweight spoke about headlining the PPV card.

“I’ve never heard of any other promoter streaming fights live on its web site. We got a lot of play in the first show and more fans are becoming familiar with us. They tell me, ‘Hey, I saw you fight on www.PrizeFightTV.com.’

“It’s helping to expand our market. If I have a second home, it’s Mississippi, where I’ve already fought seven times as a pro. I love fighting there.

“At this stage of my career, everything has been perfect, and my performances prove that by me showing improvement each fight, from the first until my last. I’m still learning, though. I fight everybody as if they’re a champion, never taking an opponent lightly. I “respect all of my opponents, but I don’t respect them too much in the ring once the bell rings. I fight for the fans, not money, or to be a star. They are the reason I do this and I take each fight as my most important, one at a time, and nothing will change when I’m a champion.”

The 6-round co-feature showcases junior middleweight Shawn Porter (9-0, 7 KOs), 2007 World Golden Gloves champion and 2008 U.S. OIympic Team alternate, who faces Lamar Harris (6-2, 4 KOs).

Also fighting on this exciting card is once-beaten Philadelphia heavyweight “Gentleman” Chazz Witherspoon (25-1, 17 KOs), the 2004 National Golden Gloves champion whose only loss in 26 pro fights was last year to world title challenger Chris Arreola.

Chazz, whose cousin Tim was world heavyweight champion, meets heavyweight gatekeeper Stacy “Big Foot” Frazier (14-5, 13 KOs) in an 8-round bout.

In a pair of 4-rounders, exciting middleweight Dominic Wade (3-0, 3 KOs), 4-time Junior Olympic champion, battles 23-fight veteran Tyrone Dowdy, while 2004-2005 U.S Super Heavyweight Champion Mike Wilson makes his much anticipated pro debut against experienced “Marvelous” Marvin Hunt.

“Boxing’s Future Champions II,” presented by Prize Fight Boxing, will air on PPV at www.PrizeFightTV.com, starting at 8 PM/ET, for only $4.99.
