Golden Boy Boxing: “Fight Night Club” Back In LA September 24

By Boxing Press August 28th, 2009 All Press Releases

With five combined appearances at L.A. Live's Club Nokia in Los Angeles, hot prospects Luis Ramos, Charles Huerta and Ronny Rios have become three of the top young stars to emerge from Golden Boy Promotions' "Fight Night Club" series.

On Thursday, September 24th, the fourth edition of the hit boxing series will bring this trio back to compete for their hometown fans.

20-year old southpaw Luis Ramos Jr. (11-0, 6 KO's) from Santa Ana, California, and compiled 120 wins as an amateur, and as a pro he's been treating his fans to even more thrills.

Progressing steadily up the lightweight ladder, Ramos' last three wins have come over seasoned veterans Nicaraguan Anthony "Maestrito" Martinez, Mexicans Baudel Cardenas and Sandro Marcos, a group with over 135 professional fights. Ramos will be featured in the main event bout in a six rounder.

Paramount, California's Charles Huerta (11-1, 7 KO's) is never in a boring fight and that style has garnered him an impressive group of followers since he turned pro in 2007.

Winner of 11 of his first 12 bouts, including big victories over respected Andres Ledesma and unbeaten Noe Lopez Jr., Huerta is eager to get back into the ring after a disappointing setback against Derrick Wilson so that he can once again show why he's considered one of the featherweight division's brightest prospects. Huerta will see action in a six round co-featured fight.

Former National Golden Gloves and Two-Time U.S. Amateur Champion Ronny Rios (6-0, 2 KO's) made a habit of winning in the amateur ranks and he hasn't let up since entering the professional game in 2008.

A talented junior featherweight battler who is getting better with each bout, the 19-year-old Rios defeated Rodrigo Aranda in his Club Nokia debut in July and the Santa Ana, California native is looking forward to notching another victory in Los Angeles on September 24th in a four/six round bout.

"Fight Night Club," is Golden Boy Promotions' and AEG's critically acclaimed new live monthly boxing series, that presents boxing in a night club atmosphere, with a DJ, music, great food and a VIP room, as well as a unique setup where the ring is on Club Nokia's stage with standing room for fans in front of the ring, as well as reserved seating in the balcony.

After the boxing action ends, fans are invited to stay to hear great music played by LA's hottest DJ's, dance and mingle with the fighters as the venue converts back into a night club.

"Fight Night Club" is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and AEG and is sponsored by Quaker State, EA Sports' Fight Night Round 4, Vitamin Water and Budweiser.

Televised bouts will air live on VERSUS and will be streamed live on RingTV.com and Yahoo! Boxing beginning at 7:00pm PT/10:00pm ET. Doors open at 6:00pm PT and the first bell rings at 6:30pm PT.

Tickets, priced at $65 (Mezzanine VIP), $50 (Lower Mezzanine), $40 (Upper Mezzanine) and $28 (General Admission: Floor standing room), may be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 online at www.ticketmaster.com or thru any Ticketmaster outlet or the Staples Center box office.
