Women's boxing legend Mia St. John will be back in action on September 19 in celebration of Mexican Independence Day in her ancestral hometown of Zacatecas, Mexico.
St. John, 45-10-2 (18), will participate in a six rounder against Perla Hernandez, 5-5-1 (1), of Torreon, Mexico in the lightweight division and give the majority of her purse to charity.
The Oxnard, California resident has been a force in the charitable field, as her foundation "El Saber Es Poder" donated 30 new computers, three years of internet and electricity to the Francisco Allende School
in Juchipila, Zacatecas.
This year the foundation will be building a library or community center along with donating a medical operation to a child in need of heart surgery.
