Boxing Update: Simms Replaces Oganov In Green Clash

By Boxing Press October 2nd, 2009 All Press Releases

On Friday October 2nd, Star Boxing's undefeated super middleweight contender "Marvelous" Tarvis Simms (25-0-1, 11KO) enters hostile territory when he takes on top rated Allan Green (28-1, 20KO) at the First Council Casino in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

The bout is scheduled for ten rounds in the super middleweight division and will be shown live as the main event on that evening's Showtime's Showbox: The Next Generation.

Green, who hails from nearby Tulsa, OK, was originally slated to face Victor Oganov, but Oganov pulled out due to an injury, leaving the door and an opportunity of a life-time, wide open for Simms.

"This is a huge opportunity for Tarvis, who has been looking for his "break out" fight," said Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. "A win against Green, who is widely considered to be one of the top super middleweights in the world, opens a lot of doors for Tarvis.

"We know this isn't going to be an easy fight for him, but we are confident in Tarvis' ability, and believe it is going to be a very exciting and entertaining fight."

Simms last fought on August 1st, winning an eight round decision over Marcus Upshaw at the Mohegan Sun in Uncaville, CT. He too agrees that it's not going to be an easy fight, but it is a fight he can, and will win.

"Allan Green is a good fighter, I know that, but he isn't better than me," stated Simms. "This is opportunity for me to show the fans and to show the world who Tarvis Simms really is. At this stage of my career I can't afford to start over, and I don't plan to.

"I don't know how to lose. Winning this fight will do miracles for my career, so for now I have one thing on my mind and that's going to Oklahoma and beating Allan Green."

Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing will be presenting the Simms - Green bout in association with DiBella Entertainment.
