Star Boxing: Cauthen Steps In To Face Decarie In Montreal

By Boxing Press October 3rd, 2009 All Press Releases

On October 3rd, Star Boxing's jr. middleweight contender, Terrance "The Heat" Cauthen (33-5, 9KO), will travel into enemy territory when he battles it out against Canada's unbeaten Antonin Decarie (22-0, 6KO) over ten rounds in the main event bout of the evening at The Casino in Montreal, Canada.

The former USBA jr. middleweight champ Cauthen, who was also a 1995 U.S. Amateur champion, and 1996 Olympic bronze medal winner, is a late replacement for fellow Star Boxing stable-mate Shamone Alvarez.

Alvarez was injured this week in training, forcing him to pull out from the match. Cauthen joins Star Boxing's super middleweight contender Tarvis Simms (25-0-1, 11KO) as the second Star Boxing fighter this week to jump into a main event bout as a late replacement.

Coincidently, both fights are taking place in very hostile territory. While Cauthen takes on the Canadian Decarie, in Canada on Saturday, on Friday, on Showtime's Shobox: The Next Generation, Simms takes on Oklahoma's top-rated super middleweight contender Allan Green (28-1, 20KO) at the First Council Casino in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

"Unfortunately Shamone suffered an injury the other day training that caused him to have to pull out of the bout, fortunately for us Cauthen was ready to go, so here we are," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing.

"This is a big fight for Terrance. He has been hovering around the top of the welterweight and jr. middleweight divisions for a long time now, a win against the unbeaten Decarie will propel him back into the top of world ratings, and set him up for a shot against one of the top contenders, or champions out there."

The Cauthen vs. Decarie bout is presented by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing in association with GYM Promotions.
