TKO Boxing: Manfredo Returns To Action Nov 15

By Boxing Press October 29th, 2009 All Press Releases

Former world title challenger Peter Manfredo Jr., “The Fighting Pride of Providence, Rhode Island”, will return to the ring on Thursday, November 5th against New Orleans based veteran Ronald Weaver in the main event at the Fourth Annual Jonathan Ogden Foundation Charity Boxing Event at Martins Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, Maryland.

The 28 year old Manfredo, sporting a record of 32-6-0 (17KO’s), is coming off a seventh round stoppage of Walid Smichet on April 18th of this year at the Montreal Casino in Quebec, Canada.

Since his second place finish on the first season of NBC TV’s boxing reality show, The Contender, Manfredo has beaten numerous world class fighters including; Scott Pemberton, David Banks, Donny McCrary and Joey Spina.

In April 2007, Manfredo challenged WBO Super Middleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe in Cardiff, Wales, in a bout that was prematurely stopped in the third round. With Manfredo against the ropes weathering a flurry of punches from the champion, referee Terry O’Connor abruptly stopped the bout.

In June of this year, Manfredo signed an exclusive promotional contract with TKO Boxing Promotions. This is the second consecutive year that TKO has worked with the Jonathan Ogden Foundation Charity Event. Last year Joey Gilbert, also of The Contender, Season One, fought on the card, knocking out Dan Wallace in the second round.

Manfredo is currently world ranked #11 by the WBC.

Weaver, 29-18-2 (22KO’s), has faced numerous former world champions and contenders including Yory Boy Campas, Giovanni Lorenzo, Randy Griffin, Bronco McKart, Rhoshi Wells, Kenny Ellis and Eric Regan.

Martins Valley Mansion is located at 594 Cranbrook Road in Cockeysville , Maryland . Further information can be obtained at The Jonathan Ogden Foundation website http://www.jonathanogdenfoundation.org/

Further details on this event will be announced shortly.
