Frank Maloney Boxing: Munroe Steps Up To World Class For Next Title Defense

By Boxing Press November 4th, 2009 All Press Releases

Rendall Munroe has been told he faces the toughest night of his professional career when he faces Simone Maludrottu (30-2).

The Leicester binman (19-1) will be making the fifth defence of his European super bantamweight crown when he faces the tricky Italian mandatory challenger at Nottingham's Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre on Friday, November 20.

Promote Frank Maloney hopes the fight will be granted WBC eliminator status for the world crown worn by Japan's Toshiaki Nishioka.

Maloney said: "Maludrottu is world class and Rendall needs to step up a gear and prove he can beat the world's best.

"Maludrottu made six defences of the European bantamweight title before giving it up and then went close when he challenged for a world title in Japan.

"He beat one of my other fighters Ian Napa on points a couple of years ago. Anybody who knows boxing will tell you Ian only loses to very best.

"I know Mike and Jason Shinfield have got top sparring for Rendall and looking at tapes of Maludrottu.

"Nothing has been taken to chance and with purse bids securing home advantage I am confident Rendall will be all right on the night even though this is the toughest assignment of his career."

Also on the star studded bill is Sunderland's 2008 Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries who will be bidding for his fifth straight win on the bill.

Tickets for the star studded Nottingham show priced £85 and £35 are available from www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508.
