Colombia's Juan Urango, the stocky, Tyson-like light welterweight now fighting out of Spain reintroduced himself to the boxing fraternity tonight with a stoppage win over Francisco Campos. The fight went five rounds with the extremely powerful Urango dominating the action until he managed to draw the proceedings to a conclusion with the knockout. Urango retains his unbeaten record and manages to stay alive in the talent-filled light welterweight ranks.
In a super middleweight contest, recent world super middleweight title challenger Syd "The Jewel" Vanderpool was surprisingly stopped by unheralded fighter Alejandro Berrio. Berrio, who has fought some decent names, usually being stopped for his troubles shocked the Canadian Vanderpool with a stoppage victory in the ninth round. With twelve years behind him as a professional fighter, three stoppages on his record, two of which have come in his last two fights, it may be time for Vanderpool to reassess his standing in the fight game.
