Antonio Margarito showed the difference between being hit by a true welterweight, as opposed to a blown-up 140-pound fighter like Teddy Reid, as "Tony" punished Kermit "The Killer" Cintron and forced his corner to step in and stop the bout midway through the fifth round. Margarito showed that he is a complete fighter with heavy hands as he dismantled "The Killer" with ease. What was supposed to be a competitive fight, ended up being one-sided as Margarito controlled the action from the start and seemed to hurt Cintron with every power punch he landed. An emotional Cintron cried at the end of the bout. Margarito, barely breaking a sweat, said after the fight that he showed that he was ready for all the top welterweights in the world. As for Kermit, it seems that his power was overrated as he never hurt Antonio even though he did score with clean, straight right hands, punches regarded as his best. Also, his chin, which had never been tested, failed as he was dropped three times, and he was hurt several times by every solid punch Margarito landed. Who knows if Cintron can come back from such a disappointing loss. As for Antonio Margarito, the welterweight division has a new star to look forward to.
Writer's note: Kudos to the ESPN team that did a great job with the broadcast. Hope to see more quality cards like this in the future with such a reasonable price.
