Boxing Result: Green KO’s Siaca In Australia

Danny Green delighted hometown fans at Perth’s Challenge Stadium earlier today by knocking out former WBA super middleweight champion Manny Siaca.

Green, 29-3 (26), successfully made the second defense of his IBO cruiserweight crown by handing seasoned veteran Siaca, 22-7 (19), easily the most devastating loss of his career.

The two former top super middles had never faced each other in that weight class and many were anticipating this clash of big punchers, particularly as Siaca owned a 2004 victory over Green’s domestic rival Anthony Mundine.

But from the fight’s start it became clear that Green had made a much better transition to the cruiserweight division, hammering Siaca, who was on the canvas as early as the second round.

Siaca’s long big fight experience simply had no bearing on this contest as Green scored with many uppercuts and powerful right hands.

By the third, Siaca was reeling and Green put an end to the one-sided bout at 1:53 of the round as the Puerto Rican visitor was down again.

The undercard saw Will Tomlinson, 12-0 (10), capture the vacant IBO Intercontinental super feather belt with a wide points verdict against previously undefeated Oscar Bravo, 13-1 (8).

Former light welter world title holder Naoufel Ben Rabah, 29-3 (15), outpointed Australian titlist Solomon Egberime, 20-3 (10), during a non-title eight rounder at welterweight.
