Calzaghe Defeats Veit…..Again.

By Jim Cawkwell May 7th, 2005 All Boxing Results

It took a little longer than their first meeting, but the result remained exactly the same. Welsh WBO super middleweight champion of the world Joe Calzaghe took his power to Veit's Germany, and the result out of the judges' hands with a dominating display in which Veit finally succumbed to a sixth round technical knockout. In their first meeting, Calzaghe caught Veit early and stopped him in the first round, this time, Veit felt the canvas twice more before receiving the mercy of the referee's stoppage. In the aftermath, Calzaghe stated his intention to fight current IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy in a unification fight. However, Lacy must repel the challenge of former WBC titlist Robin Reid before the Calzaghe fight becomes a reality.
