IBF International Heavyweight Champion Tomasz Adamek (40-1, 27 KOs) from Zywiec, Poland and hometown favorite and top rated contender Cristobal Arreola (28-1, 25 KOs) from Riverside, CA, weighed in today for the clash tomorrow.
IBF International Heavyweight Championship, 12 rounds
Tomasz Adamek: 217 lb
Chris Arreola: 250.5 lb
The two heavyweights will square off this Saturday, April 24 at The Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA as part of the “Ring of Fire” boxing card beginning at 5 p.m. The night of boxing is promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions and Main Events in association with Ziggy Promotions and sponsored by Corona and San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino.
The 28-year old Arreola (28-1, 25 KOs) rebounded from a hard-fought, defeat at the hands of WBC Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko — in his first attempt to become the first boxer of Mexican descent to win a world heavyweight title back last September.
He won his last bout by destroying 34-1 Brian Minto en route to a fourth-round TKO on December 5, 2009 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The heavy-handed Arreola sent Minto to the deck twice in that fatal round.
Tomasz Adamek (40-1, 27 KOs) who now lives in New Jersey will be defending his title he won after scoring a 5th round TKO over Andrew Golota last October. Since that bout, the former light heavyweight and cruiserweight World Champion went the distance in making a title defense with a unanimous decision over Jason “Big Six” Estrada on Feb. 6, 2010.
