Boxing Result: Munroe Stops Terrazas In WBC Eliminator

Last night at The Skydome in Coventry, England, European super bantam champion Rendall Munroe won a WBC title eliminator by stopping Mexico’s Victor Terrazas in the ninth round.

Munroe, 21-1 (9), of Leicester, won the biggest bout of his career after falling behind in the early rounds against the 27 year old from Gudalajara.

But Terrazas couldn’t improve upon a dominant fourth round showing and by the seventh was absorbing punishment from the 29 year old English southpaw.

The eighth frame saw Terrazas in deep trouble but the end came at 0:57 of the ninth when the visitor was downed by a spearing Munroe bodyshot and failed to convince referee John Keane he was in shape to continue.

Munroe now gets a crack at the WBC title, facing the winner of reigning champion Toshiaki Nishioka and undefeated challenger Balweg Bangoyan, who clash in Tokyo on April, 30.
