European title challenger John Murray is hoping that by next weekend that the City of Manchester will have two reasons to celebrate.
Next Friday (7th May) the British Lightweight Champion will be challenging Gary Buckland for the vacant European lightweight title live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 10pm. The event will take place at the Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes.
Avid City supporter Murray is hoping that his beloved Manchester City will have clinched the final Champions League spot by the time he enters the ring and hopes that the City fans will get behind him and cheer him on in his quest to defend his British title and win the European belt.
Murray said: “Just think by the end of next week I could be crowned the best Lightweight in Europe and Manchester City could have secured the final Champions League spot”.
But first John needs to get past Buckland next Friday and City need to beat Aston Villa this weekend and then Spurs on Wednesday.
“It could turn out to be an excellent week for Manchester.” added Murray.
Tickets for the show at the Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes are on sale from the Matchroom Sport box office on 01277 359900, tickets are priced at £30 for unreserved seating and £50 for ringside.
