Boxing In Canada: ESPN To Televise Lucas vs. Andrade Gala May 28

InterBox will present a quality card on May 28th 2010 for its return to the Pepsi Colisee. The Main Event will feature Éric Lucas (39-7-3, 15 KO) vs. Librado Andrade (28-3-0, 21 KO), as well as a minimum of 5 undercard bouts.

InterBox also confirms the presence of American network ESPN2 for the Lucas vs. Andrade bout/Event, who will televise live from 9 PM to 11 PM EST for their very popular “Friday Night Fights” series.

“When we decided for Eric Lucas to fight in Quebec City, one of our objectives was to bring in an American network to cover the bout. We contacted ESPN, with whom we have worked with in the past, and they accepted our invitation. They were very impressed with how beautiful Quebec City is during their site survey last week” mentioned Jean Bedard.

The IBF Super Middleweight Elimination bout between #2 contender Jesse Brinkley (35-5-0, 22 KO) vs. #4 rated Sakio Bika (28-3-2, 19 KO) will not take place on May 28th in Quebec.

InterBox received a letter from the IBF early Tuesday morning stating that Brinkley was not able to train for the last few weeks due to what seems to be a bad flu, and has only been cleared recently by his doctor to commence training.

InterBox is studying the possibility to add a seventh fight to the May 28th Gala that could be broadcast as the semi-final bout on ESPN.

InterBox reviewed the configuration of the Pepsi Colisee following the ESPN site survey and decided to add approximately thirty ringside seats. These limited tickets are now available on the Billetech network (Tel. 418-691-7211 or www.billetech.com).

Tickets are also available at Club de boxe Champion (514-376-0980). Ticket sales have been strong to date for the Lucas
vs. Andrade bout/Event with over 7,000 tickets sold thus far.

A card filled with Quebec boxers InterBox blue-chip prospect Pier-Olivier ‘Apou’ Côté (11-0-0, 7 KO) is scheduled to fight in
front of his Quebec City fans on May 28th against Mexican Juan Pablo Sanchez (10-6-0, 6 KO).

His stablemate Éric Martel-Bahoeli (3-0-0, 2 KO), a promising Heavyweight from Quebec City, will also appear on the program, fighting Winnipeg native Chad Thrun (0-1) over 4 rounds.

InterBox fighter Benoit Gaudet (21-2-0, 8 KO) is excited and motivated to be included in this card, and will be looking to continue his climb back up the World rankings ladder against Uriel Barrera (17-4-0, 10 KO).

Rounding out the card will be a 4-round rematch in the Super Middleweight division between Francy N’Tetu (3-0-0, 1 KO), from Chicoutimi, Quebec vs. Ahmad Selemani (0-1) from Quebec City. Both boxers fought bravely last December 11th 2009 at the Bell Centre with N’Tetu winning a 4-round decision.

I nterBox, in association with TKO Boxing Promotions, is proud to feature the Quebec debut of Trois Rivières phenomenon Mikael Zewski (3-0-0, 2 KO) on the event undercard. Zewski is coming off a 4 round UD victory over Alex De Leon on May 1st in Iowa. His opponent will be unveiled shortly.
