Now former WBA heavyweight champion James "Lights Out" Toney released several statements over the last few days concerning the indictment that he was found with banned substances in his system surrounding his fight with John Ruiz. Toney intends to serve out his suspension as imposed by the New York State Athletic Commission, a full ninety day period. Toney claims that the substance, mooted as the famous steroid Nandralone, appeared in his system due to a complex chemical reaction manifested due to legal medication he received to treat another condition. With this development, Toney's historic title win is declared void and the title will revert back to former champion John Ruiz, making him a three time WBA heavyweight champion of the world.
