Last night in California, the expected outcome of the Jose Celaya-James Webb fight did not materialize as Celaya found himself knocked out in the eighth round. Celaya, now beaten three times in his career was expected to deal handily with the undefeated Webb, being the more experienced, quality boxer of the two. However, it was the pressure and harder punching of Webb that eventually won the day, with Celaya visiting the canvas several times before the fight was stopped.
South African bantamweight Silence Mabuza scored an impressive result last night also, and maintained his undefeated streak with a twelve round decision win over the always tough Cruz Carbajal. Mabuza takes the win and figures in the bantamweight division at eighteen wins with no losses as the IBO champion.
Stay tuned for all of tonight's results as they happen.
