Tonight in Dublin, Ireland, Birmingham's middleweight prospect won the Irish middleweight title with a fifth round stoppage of Michael Monaghan. As reported earlier today on this site, Macklin is coming on in leaps and bounds under the tutelage of Manchester trainer Billy Graham and this latest success is hoped to be the first of many as Graham's main charge, Ricky Hatton, heads into action against Kostya Tszyu in June.
