Monshipour Retains WBA Title.

Iranian born Mahyar Monshipour retained his WBA super bantamweight title in France tonight by stopping Thailand’s Yoddamrong Sithyodthong in six rounds. Monshipour is twenty-nine years old and this latest win brings his professional record to 26-2-2 with seventeen stoppages

to his credit. A former European champion, Monshipour has now retained his world championship for the third time. He won the title against Frenchman Salim Medjkoune and keeps his hopes alive for unification matches against the WBC’s titlist Oscar Larios, the IBF’s Israel Vazquez or the WBO’s Joan Guzman who appeared as the undercard support to the Tszyu-Mitchell fight this past Saturday.
