TKO Boxing: Joseph Elegele Dazzles On ESPN2 Fight Card Broadcast

This past Friday night boxing fans were treated to the network broadcast debut of top junior welterweight prospect, Joseph Elegele on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.

Fighting out of Melbourne, Florida, Elegele faced off against William Walton of Salt Lake City , Utah in the scheduled six rounder.

With his six foot frame and rangy southpaw stance, Elegele was able to control the action and use his bazooka like jab to keep the overly aggressive Walton at bay throughout the first two rounds.

Although tagged in the first by a left hand from Walton, Elegele quickly regained form and continued his assault against Walton, dropping him hard with a left hand that ended the second round.

The third round featured more battering combinations from Elegele which found their mark. Towards the middle of the round, Elegele trapped Walton in a corner and referee Wayne Hedgpeth stopped the onslaught at the 1:37 mark of the round.

With the win, Elegele, who ESPN2 analysts Teddy Atlas and Joe Tessitore raved about, improved to 9-0 with seven knockouts while Walton moved to 4-2 (3KO’s).

Boxing fans will surely see more of Elegele in the second half of 2010, his next bout should be announced shortly.
