Reportedly, negotiations are underway for a rematch between former pound-for-pound and light heavyweight champion Roy Jones and newly crowned IBF champion Clinton Woods. In their first meeting, Jones dazzled Woods with speed and forced a sixth round stoppage of the Briton. Since then, Woods has contested the IBF championship with former champion Glen Johnson; drawing once and losing in his final attempt. Johnson's vacation of the title in order to face Antonio Tarver allowed Woods what many felt would be a last chance to become a world champion, and he made good on the opportunity, pounding out American Rico Hoye in five rounds. Rumors are that if a rematch is to happen, Jones may make an historic trip over to the United Kingdom in his attempt to remove the IBF title from Woods' grasp.
We will keep you updated as to developments in this situation as they happen.
