If Marco Antonio Barrera drew criticism for defending his super featherweight championships against lightly regarded South African Mzonke Fana last time out, it is unlikely that any such complaints will arise at the possibility of his next fight. The Mexican legend is rumored to be fighting newly crowned IBF super featherweight champion Robbie Peden in a legitimate clash between two class operators. Barrera is set to return to the ring this September on the under-card of Oscar de la Hoya's return to the ring, and if De La Hoya cannot muster a competitive fight, Barrera-Peden can easily steal the show.
We hope to confirm this potential fight for you very soon.
