In the aftermath of his shocking fourth round stoppage loss to WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison this past Friday, Manchester fighter Michael Brodie announced, in a rather snap-decision manner that he will retire from boxing. The title fight with Harrison was Brodie's fourth attempt at a world title after losing bids against Willie Jorrin and In Jin Chi. If Brodie does indeed retire, he leaves with an impressive career and will always be remembered as more than a stereotypical upright European fighter. Brodie was extremely technically sound, had plenty of power and always fought with great heart and desire to win. He will be missed in the featherweight ranks.
