Boxing Result: Cazares Retains WBA Title Over Hisataka In Japan

Last night at Osaka’s Prefectural Gymnasium, WBA super flyweight kingpin Hugo Fidel Cazares retained his crown via a 12 round unanimous decision over Hiroyuki Hisataka.

Hisataka, coming up from flyweight, started off well, taking the action to the Mexican based champion, who patiently studied the challenger, who was fighting in front of a hometown crowd.

Cazares’ big edge in experience started to show by the second as he expertly outboxed Hisataka, but the Osaka resident scored with some big shots in the fourth.

But this caused Hisataka to look for one big punch from then on, allowing Cazares to regain control through a higher work rate and avoiding the challenger’s telegraphed efforts.

Hisataka almost hit the jackpot in the eighth when he hurt Cazares but the Los Mochis resident was able to see his way through the difficulty until the end of the round.

Cazares carefully boxed his way through from that point on, sweeping the scorecards by margins of 117-111, 117-111 and 116-112.

The champion retains the WBA strap for the third time, improving to 34-6-2 (24), while Hisataka drops to 19-9-1 (8), and is now 0-3 in world title bouts.
