8 Count Boxing: “The Polish Prince” Returns January 28

Polish sports fans in Chicago will once again descend on the UIC Pavilion on Friday, January 28th as light heavyweight slugger Andrzej Fonfara returns to battle against Florida based veteran Adam Jaco at Windy City Fight Night 15 it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions.

Celebrating his thirteenth year of promoting monthly shows in Chicago , Pesoli has high praise for Fonfara, “We’ve seen rapid improvement from Andrzej in the last year and a half, his power is just remarkable and he’s become a terrific draw amongst the Polish community in Chicago.”

Known as “The Polish Prince”, the 23 year old Fonfara has fought in front of huge crowds at the UIC Pavilion over the last eighteen months as his destructive knockout power has been the talk of the boxing community in Chicago.

In his most recent bout on November 19th, Fonfara brutally stopped Anthony Doughty with a crushing right hand cross only 23 seconds into the first round, thrilling his legion of fans who stood and chanted his name from the moment he walked to the ring until long after his win was announced.

With a record of 15-2-0 (6KO’s), the Warsaw , Poland native Fonfara has stopped his last three opponents, including a fourth round destruction of Roger Cantrell, capturing the vacant WBC Youth World Light Heavyweight Title.

Fighting out of Sarasota , Florida , Jaco, 10-3-1 (4KO’s), is riding a five bout winning streak with three knockouts among them. In his most recent action, Jaco knocked out Adam Collins in the second round in Tampa , Florida.

The fight card is headlined by a ten round lightweight battle between longtime Chicago fan favorite and former world champion David Diaz of Chicago , IL and “Red Hot” Robert Frankel of Denver , Colorado.

Other popular Chicago fighters on the card include crowd pleasing Mexican prospect, welterweight Jaime Herrera, undefeated welterweight Achour Esho, junior welterweight newcomer Genaro Mendez and former amateur standout Ramiro Carrillo along with sensational undefeated Russian prospects Anton Novikov and Aslanbek Kozaev.
