Former heavyweight star Shannon Briggs got back into the thick of the action last night in his native New York as he pounded little-known Abraham Okine in three short rounds. Briggs, who has fought such names as Lennox Lewis, George Foreman and Jameel McCline was once a favored prospect with fast hands and power. Rumors of a lack of focus on boxing were closely followed by Brigg's indulgence in a series of exterior ventures from the ring including modelling and acting. Okine went down in the third, but Briggs has much to do if he is to reclaim something of his former position among the heavyweight notables.
