Boxing Against Cancer: Gavern Fights For The Pink In Florida

Jason “The Sensation” Gavern will headline a big boxing card as he defends his WBC Caribbean Heavy Weight Title on Saturday, April 2, 2011. The title bout is one of seven matches in the Fights for the Pink, an event promoting breast cancer awareness at Roger Dean Stadium.

“I’m looking forward to defending my title,” according Gavern, “My family has been so supportive of me living and realizing my dream; I just want to make them proud.” Jason is 33 years old and lives in Kissimmee, Florida. His record is 19-7-4; rated 16th in the US.

Other fighters include: David Loy of Sweden, Shaun Bennit, Frank Gedeon, Todd Brown and female fighter Patricia “Patty Boom Boom” Alcivar – matches TBA.

Breast Cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world today, with about 1.3 million people diagnosed annually. The world-class boxers from Florida and other parts of the U.S. will join in the fight against breast cancer with the South Florida affiliate of Susan G. Komen fight for the Cure. Fights for the Pink is donating .50 cents of each ticket purchased toward this great cause.

Fights for the Pink is sanctioned by the WBC and the Florida Boxing Commission.
