Longtime world title contender finally gathered a world championship after several attempts tonight in Italy. Johnson, of Lou DiBella's DiBella Entertainment group traveled to Milan in Italy to take on Stefano Zoff for the vacant IBF lightweight title as vacated by former champion Julio "Kidd" Diaz. The fight ended in the seventh round as Johnson forced the stoppage, awarding the fight to Johnson who becomes the latest championship addition in a talent-packed lightweight division including Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo and Acelino Freitas. On Thursday night, Ricky "Showtime" Quiles defeated Javier Jauregui to become the IBF mandatory contender.
