Ghana's Ike Quartey registered the most significant win of his comeback to boxing after a five year absence last night as he took a ten round decision away from former light middleweight champion Verno Phillips. Quartey felt the canvas in round nine after Phillips certainly had his moments early in the fight. But Quartey came on and did enough to post a result of 95-94 on two cards while the other judge saw Quartey winning by a score of 96-93. The fight was held in the middleweight division and was a good showcase for Quartey who may remain in the middleweight division alongside his DiBella Entertainment counterpart Jermain Taylor. Taylor challenges Bernard Hopkins for the undisputed middleweight championship on July 16.
