Clinton Woods gained the IBF light heavyweight championship of the world at the fourth time of asking earlier this year. Now, the Sheffield fighter will have to take on former WBO champion Julio Gonzalez in a first defense. Gonzalez was the first man to defeat longtime WBO champion Dariusz Michalczewski and gave former undisputed light heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr. a spirited challenge some years ago. Both Woods and Gonzalez are similar in height and body type, and stylistically, they are both very game fighters who will fight to the end. Gonzalez would have to be credited with the greater power of the two.
We hope to announce confirmation of this fight for you soon.
