Former fringe heavyweight contender Oleg Maskaev lit up Friday Night Fight’s with a third round stoppage of previously unknown fighter Livin Castillo earlier this evening. Maskaev took care of business against Castillo as he always does against this type of opponent, and would likely have done so had either Dale Crowe or Terrance Lewis turned up to fight as intended. Maskaev was previously mentioned as an opponent for WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko but the word is that HBO will not sanction such a match. Maskaev has been close to world title contention before but always seems to fall at the final hurdle in top competition.
We will keep you updated as to where Maskaev goes next, and a confirmed opponent for Klitschko as soon as possible.
