Abramenka Vows Revenge In Blackpool Hatton Clash August 19

Andrei Abramenka has vowed to get even with Matthew Hatton when they clash on Friday August 19. The Belarussian challenges ‘Magic’ Matthew for the vacant IBF intercontinental welterweight title at Blackpool’s Tower Circus.

Back in March 2006 Hatton gave one of his best ever performances forcing Abramenka’s older brother Aleksandr to retire after six rounds when they fought in Monaco.

Andrei, 24, whose day job is a policeman said: “I have seen of lot of Hatton’s fights and know he’s a very good boxer. His record as a European champion and world title challenger shows that I saw a lot of his fights.

“Matthew also beat my oldest brother Aleksandr. Now it time for revenge. This is the biggest opportunity for me. He is in top positions now, so it a good chance for me to show my quality.”

Unbeaten Abramenka has won 15 and drawn two of his 17 contests. One of his draws came on his only fight outside Belarus against Hatton victim, Roberto Belge.

Abramenka added: “I am sure that judges were not fair. Belge went down five times, but it my mistake that I am not finished him before round 12. There is a worry that the same thing could happen in Blackpool, but I England is known for being fair and treating visiting boxers well.”

Popular unbeaten cruiserweight Matty Askin boxes Argentinian Juan Manuel Garay on his home town bill. Askin’s occasional sparring partner, Rik Turba is up against Dutchman Mitchell Balker over eight rounds

Other prospects on the bill include welterweight hopeful Adam Little who tackles Liam Griffiths and middleweight Tom Scott whose debut opponent is Bobby Wood.

In a six round bantamweight attraction Kazakhstan’s Zhanat Zhakyanov faces Anwar Alfadi.

The show promoted by Robert Waterman will be televised live by Eurosport and ticket are available prices £35, £55 and £75 VIP from 01925 755222 and www.ticketline.co.uk
