Former Amateur Star Andrade Faces Duran Tonight In New Hampshire

Former US Olympian and amateur World Champion Demetrius Andrade (14-0 9KO) takes on rugged Mexican warrior Saul Duran (38-18-2 31KO) in a 10 round Jr. Middleweight contest tonight at the annual “Fight to Educate Night” at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH.

Andrade, promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, is coming off a career best win on August 19th over former Contender Champion Grady Brewer, televised worldwide on ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights”, continues his climb up the Jr. Middleweight division ladder by risking his undefeated record against power punching Saul Duran. Andrade, hailing from nearby Providence, RI, will be fighting for the fourth time in 2011.

Duran, coming off a knockout win July 10th over Gilberto Hernandez is no stranger from fighting in the backyard of his opponents. The Juarez, MX native is a veteran of almost 60 fights and has challenged for the World Championship twice in his career. Duran is a fan friendly fighter who packs a big punch and should serve as a stern test for the young Andrade.

The fight is the main event on the annual “Fight To Educate” card, which benefits the SEE Science Center- The Bobby Stephens Fund for Education. Doors open at 7:30pm with the first bout scheduled for 8:00pm.
