Williams to Win or Retire.

By Boxing Press July 13th, 2005 All Press Releases

After a crushing defeat to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last year, Londoner Danny Williams faces a stark choice after his clash with Matt Skelton this weekend; if Williams loses, he faces mounting pressure to retire. Williams' promoter Frank Warren urged his man to retire after the loss to Klitschko as the fight itself saw Williams suffer a terrible beating with several knockdowns and severe facial cuts. However, Williams, once the British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion is eager to prove that he is not finished as a threat in the heavyweight division on the domestic scene or the world scene for that matter. Skelton is the currently undefeated British, Commonwealth and WBU heavyweight champion with sixteen wins, only one of which was not earned via brutal knockout. The former mixed martial artist knows that if he can defeat Williams in style, he can progress into serious contention for a world title thanks to the dearth of talent in the heavyweight division.

SaddoBoxing will report on the news and results of the fight card on which this battle takes place this Saturday in Lancashire, England. Stay tuned.
