DiBella Entertainment's Leavander Johnson (34-4-2, 26 KO's) is the new IBF Lightweight champion and has his sights set on Erik Morales (48-2-0, 34 KO's), but Johnson feels that the Mexican standout is ducking him.
Johnson's last victory was an impressive seventh round knock out over Stefano Zoff to capture the vacant IBF title. Johnson once again has established himself as one of the top lightweights in the world.
"It's obvious that he's ducking me," said Johnson. "I respect him as one of the great champions, but why take an easy fight when he has the chance to make history. Take the test, don't let your countrymen down."
"Now it's time for Erik Morales to step up to the challenge of Leavander Johnson, and make history," said promoter Lou DiBella, president of DiBella Entertainment. "The boxing world is not waiting with anticipation for a meaningless fight. Instead of attempting to become the first Mexican to win world titles in four different weight classes -- 122 lbs, 126 lbs, 130 lbs and 135 lbs -- he appears poised to win a mismatch that no one cares about."
