Bristol Boxer – Lee Haskins was crowned winner of the Prizefighter ‘Super-Flyweights’ last night, defeating Brummie – Don Broadhurst in the final of the eight-man tournament at Liverpool Olympia.

Haskins won his quarter-final against Terry Broadbent of Leeds on points, then faced Ryan Farrag of Liverpool in the Semi’s. A thrilling contest saw Farrag bravely battle on despite being bathed in blood from cuts to head and a bloody nose. Haskins got the points victory to earn his place in the final against ‘The Don’ Broadhurst.

An all-action final saw popular Broadhurst on the canvas twice in the second round – losing out to Haskins by Unanimous Points decision.

Haskins wins the trophy and £32,000 prize money.

Also on the Eddie Hearn ‘Bill’ – debutants Zak Smith of Liverpool and Michael Stupart of Hayes, Middlesex, fought in a closely matched four round Super-Featherweight contest with Smith getting the points win.

Reserves Martin Power and Najah Ali were not required – although there were plenty of cuts during the tournament!
