Mark Krence stepped into a British Heavyweight title fight against the formidable Matt Skelton, replacing Danny Williams at the eleventh hour, and did much better than anyone expected before getting stopped in the seventh round. Krence was able to use his greater skills to good advantage and frustrated the stronger British Champion over much of the contest but could not recover from a long lunging left by Skelton and the action was stopped in the seventh round.
