Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion and Mike Tyson conqueror Danny Williams is under severe fire after his last moment pull-out this past weekend. Williams was supposed to fight current British, Commonwealth and WBU heavyweight titlist Matt Skelton in a hugely significant domestic clash, but Williams cancelled his appearance right at the last moment, forcing promoter Frank Warren to search for a last minute replacement. Chesterfield heavyweight Mark Krence stepped in to replace Williams but the move dismayed Warren to such a degree that he has called for Williams to retire. Adding weight to the criticism surround Williams' actions is the fact that he was quoted before the event as saying that a loss to Skelton would likely mean retirement. Williams suffered a terrible beating at the hands of Vitali Klitschko in his one and only title shot last year.
