Andrew Golota knocked John Ruiz down twice and benefited from a point deduction Ruiz incurred from fouling, and yet, Golota still lost the fight and the chance to become a world champion. Ruiz might feel he has a guardian angel at this point in his career because he has managed to return from what has looked like certain defeat on more than one occasion to salavage a win and his title at the mercy of boxing officials. Ruiz might look to fight still reigning champion Chris Byrd or the possibility of a WBC unification remains alive for him with whomever emerges from December 11 as the champion of that organization: Danny Williams or Vitali Klitschko. Hasim Rahman might choose to pursue his mandatory fight with Ruiz in a fight that might eclipse their uneventful first fight considering Rahman's return to form.
