It was recently announced that long-time WBO cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson of Sheffield, England will travel to Rome in Italy later this year for his latest title defense against Vincenzo Cantatore. Italian Cantatore will enjoy a large, |
partisan crowd advantage when he challenges Nelson on December 11, but Nelson has proved to be a comfortable challenger in recent times with excellent wins over Ezra Sellers in Denmark and Rudiger May in Germany in his last fight. Cantatore also enjoyed home advantage when he challenged current WBC cruiserweight champion Wayne Braithwaite of Guyana. The fight ended controversially when Cantatore turned from his opponent to complain to the referee and was hit by a lethal combination in the tenth round. Nelson has recently been living up to his alias of the 'entertainer' with impressive stoppage performances against well ranked contenders, and if he can successfully defend against Cantatore, more exciting confrontations await.
