Reports are circulating that longtime WBO cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson may be about to entertain the challenge of WBU champion from Wales, Enzo Maccarinelli. The plan was for Nelson to take on Italy's Vincenzo Cantatore, but at thirty-eight, times is pressing for Nelson and retirement has already been on his mind. If in fact the time is drawing near when Nelson will wave goodbye to his boxing career, there is no better way to do it than against Maccarinelli in what is sure to be a fascinating British encounter. Maccarinelli's hammer fists have brough him sixteen knockouts in twenty-one wins against one stoppage loss. Nelson has been the WBO champion since defeating Carl Thompson in 1999.
