Martin Lindsay will challenge Lee Selby for the British and Commonwealth featherweight titles at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on September 22 live on Sky Sports.

The Belfast man welcomes the Welshman into his hometown on a huge night of action with their title clash part of the huge bill topped by Carl Frampton’s European super bantamweight title clash against Kiko Martinez.

Welshman Selby is no stranger to the hostile atmosphere of a hometown fighter having ripped the titles he defends against Lindsay away from Stephen Smith in Liverpool with a dominant eight round stoppage win in September 2011.

The 25 year old has had back-to-back fifth round stoppage wins since that great night on Merseyside, defending both belts against John Simpson in December at York Hall in east London and then defending the Commonwealth title against Patrick Okine in Newport in May.

Lindsay is gunning to regain the British belt he won in against Paul Appleby in April 2009 and defended against Jamie Arthur in March 2010 before losing it to Simpson in December 2010. The 30 year old returned to action in March after 15 months out of the ring since the Simpson defeat with a six round points win in east London before an impressive fourth round stoppage of Mickey Coveney at the King’s Hall in Belfast on the all-Irish Prizefighter undercard in May.

“I am delighted to have won the purse bid for this great fight,” said show promoter Eddie Hearn. “We all know how popular Martin is in Belfast and this is a great opportunity for him to regain his British title and add the Commonwealth strap on what promises to be an epic night in his hometown.”

Lindsay’s title tilt is part of a great undercard for Frampton’s biggest test of his promising career. Paul McCloskey is aiming to get back on track after his defeat to DeMarcus Corley in May, Eamonn O’Kane won the all-Irish Prizefighter tournament on the same bill in Belfast that night and he features on the card as do unbeaten Belfast prospects Jamie Conlan and Dee Walsh.

Team GB stars Scotty Cardle, Kal Yafai and Martin Ward all continue their pro education in Belfast.

Tickets are on sale from the Odyssey Arena box office on 028 9073 9074 and at www.odysseyarena.com – tickets are priced at £30, £40, £60 and £100.

Ringside VIPs tickets priced at £150 are exclusively available from Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900 and at www.matchroomboxing.com.
