Mack Named As Next Opponent For Froch

By Boxing Press August 28th, 2012 All Press Releases

Carl Froch will defend his IBF super middleweight title against IBF number six Yusaf Mack at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham on November 17, live on Sky Sports.

Froch became a three-time World Champion with a stunning fifth round KO of Lucian Bute to claim the belt at the same venue in May and returns to fight Mack, the Philadelphian World title challenger who will enter the lion’s den aiming to cause an upset.

‘Mack Attack’ challenged Tavoris Cloud for the IBF light heavyweight title last June and recorded an impressive win over Omar Sheika in April, dominating the man who challenged Joe Calzaghe and Jeff Lacy in World title bouts to take the USBA light heavyweight title with a wide points decision.

It’s the first time Froch has fought back-to-back fights at his hometown fortress since 2008 and The Cobra is ready to put on a show for his loyal faithful.

“I can’t wait to get back into that ring in Nottingham and give the fans another great night,” said Froch. “The Bute win will go down as one of the greatest nights of my life and I plan on doing something special against Mack on November 17.

"He’s got nothing to lose coming here to face me and I know he’ll put it all on the line to take the title from me so I’ll be fully prepared for everything he’s got and I’ll be hitting him with all my best.”

“I’m delighted to have to have secured a home defence for Carl, no-one deserves if more,” said promoter Eddie Hearn.

“He will be full focused on the fight with Mack, a much bigger man who will be coming to rip that World title from his grasp. I can’t wait to be there on the night with the British fans sure to create another electric atmosphere in the Capital FM Arena.”

Tickets go on sale at 3pm today (August 28) £40, £60, £80, £120 and £200 from the Capital FM Arena Box Office on 08444 124624 and at www.capitalfmarena.com

VIP packages are available exclusively from Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900 and at www.matchroomboxing.com
