Due to a torn tricep muscle suffered in training, former world champion Mark “Too Sharp’ Johnson has been forced to withdraw from his September 1st bout with top bantamweight contender Jhonny Gonzalez. Stepping in for Johnson in the main event of HBO Latino’s “Boxeo De Oro’, will be hard-hitting Nicaraguan contender William Gonzalez, who brings a 20-1 (15 KOs) record into the ring against Mexico’s Jhonny Gonzalez (29-4, 25 KOs), who is currently riding a 15 fight winning streak.
This bout, which headlines an exciting night of boxing presented by Golden Boy Promotions, will be aired live on HBO Latino from the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona, beginning at 10pm ET.
Also featured on the “Boxeo De Oro’ broadcast will be separate bouts featuring unbeaten rising stars Jonathan Oquendo (5-0, 3 KOs) and Aaron Garcia (5-0, 2 KOs).
